FAQ

Tandems:

How much is a tandem flight?

275$

How long does a tandem last?

A high mountain flight usual lasts around 15 minutes, which is going to seem like a lot of time in the air. The duration could change according to weather conditions and how wild of a ride you request. Buoyant air might keep the glider up longer. Aggressive flying burns more altitude than smooth cruising.

What does a tandem feel like?

Paragliding is unlike anything you've experienced before. It's not a leap, it's a launch. It's not a drop, it's a flight. In the front of a tandem you will have nothing in your field of vision but your dangling legs. It's essentially the exact same way a hawk flies when it locks it's wings in place... you'll be that hawk.

Air conditions make all the difference in a flight. Middle of the day creates a lot of lift and turbulence. The glider can easily climb up in altitude but the ride is rougher and may be unsettling (similar to turbulence on a plane). The edges of the day produce a smoother ride but it's harder to stay up.

A pilot who flies with a soft touch has a more relaxed ride and burns less altitude. A pilot who cranks the glider can produce thrills and chills no rollercoaster could ever match, but drops significantly towards the ground.

Tell your tandem pilot the kind of ride you'd like to experience. They will accommodate you as best as possible without compromising safely.

How will my tandem experience unfold?

You will typically meet your instructor at the landing zone of the flying site for paperwork, payment, and a small briefing. Depending on conditions you may wait a bit below or drive directly up to the launch above. At the top you'll be fitted with gear and given more instruction. There will typically be time to take pictures from the launch and observe other paragliders take off. When the instructor feels like the conditions are ideal you'll get strapped up in a harness, connect in to the paraglider, and it's up up and away.

Lessons:

How much are lessons?

350$ for day 1.
250$ for every following day.

How many lessons will it take to get certified to fly solo?

This depends on a variety of factors including the weather on your lesson days and your ability to pick up the skills and knowledge to fly safely. The most savvy students (often coming from other extreme sports) got to competence in 8 lessons. Students who struggled the most took twice that. We strive to get you out of the nest fast, but safety is our priority. However, you will be flying by yourself within a few lessons, but with the radio contact and eyeballs of an instructor on you.
