A walk through Kolkata's maze-like neighborhood of Kali-Ghat reminded me of an old Alan Watt's talk about the image of God. What do you think God looks like? In November of 2019, we started season 5 of Road Less Traveled in Vietnam and Bali. You know what happened next. The team managed to squeeze one Caribbean episode in during Covid, but mostly things ground to a halt. I'm sure all your endeavors and lives were also drastically altered. The good news, if you are reading this, is that we both made it through this pandemic alive. Road Less Traveled has begun filming again with new episodes coming from India, Thailand, and the Philippines. As usually, I'm hunting content that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, and always keeping it real. Thanks for coming along for the journey. When I speak to the camera, I'm trying to look through it and meet you right where you sit. Hugs and kisses from Asia. More content coming soon! I'd seen so much controversy about our border w Mexico and immigration issues, but it occured to me that I never actually saw "the wall" with my own eyes. So, I bought a KLR 650, beefed it up for a rough journey, and traveled the dusty line from the Pacific ocean to Arizona. I was experimenting w TikTok for a bit, so most of the videos were cut short for that format. I've since decided that ultra short formats are not my cup of tea. Our attention spans keep eroding due to social media and I don't want to further encourage this trend. I came to Peru looking for Road Less Traveled content. I'm always attracted to displaced and forgotten communities, and enjoy shining a light on them. In this vein I found a small village of people from the Amazon now living in a pretty crappy piece of real estate in Lima. I filmed with them, left, realized I had not done my best to help them, and then came back to rectify that. Here is that story in video. All these videos cut in the Balkans were really about a plan I hatched during the slow months of the early pandemic: Teach myself how to shoot and edit. I'm not especially stoked on the YouTuber hustle, but it was a great way to get reps in. For a couple months solid all i did was travel, film, and quckly piece together videos on Davinci Resolve. Not the most profound content, but if you are curious about these destinations, and enjoy the sound of my voice, here they are. Carska Bara, just north of Belgrade, is a wetlands bird refuge that locals call the Amazon of Serbia. If you are looking for a great day trip out of Belgrade, this is a solid choice.
The original vampire, Sava Savanovic, is from Serbia. He's not who you think he is. His story has a bizarre connection to covid. I drive into the dark forest to investigate a story of horror and hysteria.
